VISION AND VALUES
Being a school board member means being insightful, even keeled, and committed to implementing policy that is in the best interest of the students. Sometimes that means the balancing of competing interests.
I am the right person for the job. I am committed to educating myself on any issue that comes my way and will always put the kids’ interests first.

Social-Emotional Learning
I believe that a school needs to be a safe place for all students to express themselves and explore who they are. In some cases, the school may be the only safe place that a child has. The emotional well-being of a student is the foundation for their learning.

Strong Academics
I believe that our schools should have academic rigor. Our kids are going to school to get an education. We are well poised in this district to continue to grow our kids academically and to challenge them, which may include updates and changes to curriculum. It is also important to me that all CUSD 200 schools receive the same level of academic instruction. It shouldn’t matter what elementary school a child goes to within the district – they should all be exemplary.

Fiscal Responsibility
I am committed to the fiscal responsibility of the district. As a homeowner and taxpayer, I know how important the quality of school is to home values. We have an excellent school district now, and I intend on keeping it that way. As a board member, one of my jobs will be to steward the tax dollars being allocated to our district. One of the important projects coming up for the board will be to oversee the spending of the referendum dollars on our middle school improvements. It is important not to be wasteful and re-invest our tax money into the community to make it a better place for our kids to learn.

Transparency & Communication
I believe in effective communication and transparency between the Board and the community. If elected I would strive to be available to the community and keep an open line of communication open. All voices deserve to be heard.

School Safety
The safety of our schools is paramount. We currently have safety mechanisms in place to keep our kids safe, and I want to continue to be on the cutting edge of technologies with regard to building safety. It’s not enough to wait for an incident to make changes, but we need to be always implementing new and improved safety standards.

Special Education
It is important to be inclusive of all learners and ensure that there are proper screenings for learning disabilities, including dyslexia. It is also important for our elementary teachers to continue to receive professional development to better help kids who have learning struggles, both diagnosed and undiagnosed.
